A Useful, Meaningless Dichotomy

Church vs Science.

It's probably better to think of the dichotomy as one between Religion and Progress. It is useful in order to make a utilitarian distinction between these twin providers of the Things Man Needs. People need answers, we all need rationalization. At the end of reason lies the Divine. And the great conceit of human intelligence is that we tell ourselves that we can appreciate and appropriate the Divine. We may or we may not. It's impossible to tell. We simply believe or not.
